UV-Free Nail Application Guide

Step 1

Prepare your nails

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly. Gently push back your cuticles with the wooden stick. Lightly buff the surface of each nail until the shine is gone, then clean each nail with a prep wipe.

Craze tip

Keep the strips, file, wooden stick, prep wipes and a pair of nail scissors or clippers within reach before you begin.

What to avoid

Do not apply hand cream or oil before your manicure. Keep the strips on their backing, inside the packaging and away from direct sunlight. Sunlight can harden them before application and affect how well they adhere.

Need help with this step?

If a strip feels stiff, warm it between your hands for a few seconds or use gentle warm air to make it flexible again. Do not expose it to sunlight before applying it.

Step 2

Choose the right size

Choose a strip that covers the nail from side to side without touching the skin or cuticle. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller one. Position it about 1 mm from the cuticle.

Before peeling it off the backing, check that the strip covers the nail without touching the skin. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller one.

What to avoid

The strip should not touch the skin or cuticle. Leave a small gap around the nail.

Need help with this step?

If you are between two sizes, choose the smaller one so there is a little space along both sides of the nail.

Step 3

Apply and press

Position the strip about 1 mm from the cuticle. Start in the centre, smooth it towards the sides, then press and rub it down for 15 seconds.

Craze tip

Smooth from the centre towards the sides to prevent bubbles. Then carefully press all the way around the nail, paying special attention to the edges. Use the flat end of the wooden stick or the flat side of a cuticle pusher to secure the strip around the entire nail.

What to avoid

Do not touch the adhesive side. Avoid lifting and repositioning the strip repeatedly, as this can reduce its adhesion.

Need help with this step?

As you apply the strip, smooth gently from the centre towards the edges to remove any bubbles.

Step 4

Shape the edge

Trim the excess with nail scissors or clippers. Fold the overhang down and file gently in one direction, always downwards, until it sits flush with the edge of your nail. Press again for 15 seconds to seal it. If your nails are very short, trimming without filing may work better.

Craze tip

Use gentle, controlled movements. The strip should end exactly at the length of your natural nail.

What to avoid

Never file upwards or back and forth: this can lift the edge of the strip away from your natural nail. If your nails are very short, skip filing the edge and carefully trim the excess instead.

Need help with this step?

If a little excess remains, file gently downwards in one direction only.

UV-Free strips do not extend the length of your natural nails. They let you enjoy a neat, polished look while your nails grow to the length you want.

Step 5

Let the strips set

Keep your hands dry for the first 2 hours and avoid applying oil straight after application. The adhesive continues to set during this time.

UV-Free strips typically last 7 to 14 days. Wear time can vary depending on your nails and daily activities.

Craze tip

Once all the strips are applied and firmly pressed down, you can expose your nails to direct sunlight to help the gel cure and improve adhesion. Sunlight is only for strips that are already on your nails, never for strips still on the backing.

What to avoid

Avoid water and oils straight after application. When it is time to remove the strips, do not pull them off.

If a strip starts to lift or something does not feel right, do not pull it off. Send us a photo or tell us what happened and we will help.

Keep unused strips on their backing and inside the packaging, away from direct sunlight. You can use them to replace a strip if needed, mix and match them with other Craze designs, or wear them on your toes in summer if the sizes fit.
